registered Americans should not expect privacy and that the government has all the rights in the world to seize data and information of individuals for government purposes, which sounds more like a disclaimer written by Fidel Castro or Vladimir Putin. When asked why that disclaimer was buried deep in those HTML codes and why buyers are stripped off their rights to privacy without their knowledge, she apologized and promised to pull it off. Had not the site crashed and sailed through without glitches, this "disclaimer" would have been given this woman absolute untested and unregulated legal authority to seize American users' data and information for the purpose of "prosecution" and "penalizing" normal private citizens.
This is a snapshot of the site's disclaimer "Terms & Conditions" |
Also, Sec Sebilius some how revealed in this hearing a shocking information - perhaps by mistake. She revealed that the website won't store personal data but the HHS will be using other databases to access personal data of the site's users. But her remarks is a deliberate diversion from the truth. For instance, I opened up the site and signed up. To those who don't really care about words, this revelation is simply her words, but to me, her words have far reaching consequences.
When the site came on, I decided to sign up. After getting in, I quickly noticed that the site requites my "Social Security Number (SSN)" before shopping for a healthcare insurance policy. The site's creators, particularly CGI, confessed that the site was first created to have users browse through the various providers and policies before the actual registration, but somehow the Obama administration, through the HHS requested that all users registered. This may have been the real result as to why the site was delayed; not crashed. My wife and I talked about it and I decided to quit the signing up process for the very reason that she didn't mention in her testimony or answers to the members of the committee.
While the government may not get your information in the signing up process, they can get to your data in two ways: First: Though the site may not store information or personal data, giving up SSN - a number attached to a name - to the website, gives the government "ultimate access" to the registered users' personal information and data. So she skillfully and dishonestly diverted the issue.
Second: The Sec. revealed that the government will use the Verizon phone company (the largest in US), Homeland Security database, and the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) data hubs. So, even if Americans refused to give up their information/data to the government, the HHS and this government will have total access to information used by the cellphone companies, HS data hub and IRS in a short boolean search.
Normally, when signing up for a Verizon mobile/cellphone, that company asks for users information including credit card information, phone number (house) for return call, addresses etc. and these data are being stored by the cellphone company for as long as it exists, but no American ever imagined that one day the government will harvest all these data and use them against them when they refused to buy something they don't want nor need. These data can be retrieved by the HHS using this Obamacare law to retrieve information of those who don't want to buy a Healthcare insurance policy (which they don't need), for "penalizing-individual" purposes. This is sick indeed!
