First of all, Hon. Gukuna revealed that the M.V. Renbel was purchased not with $2 million but about a little over one million dollar. The remaining $787,000, he explained, was withdrawn in "two imprests instead of grants", and according to him, the money was retired some five years ago. If this money was retired five years ago, how did he retire such fund and what did he used this money for? If he used this money for the operation of M.V. Renbel, he needs to explain it. And to who did he retire this fund. Needs to provide proofs that the money wasn't use for his personal business.
Secondly, Hon. Gukuna stated that most of the $2 million was paid to the Cruz Communication for his Solar Panels, but if the majority of the money went to his SP suppliers, I wonder when Hon. Gukuna will supply Bellonese families with Solar Panels. Its been three years since elected as Member of Parliament. The people of Bellona would love to know when they will receive their Solar Panel before the end of Gukuna's term in Parliament. If he reserves the Panels for his upcoming campaign, I am afraid that many Bellonese would buy that!
Besides, it is of paramount interest that Hon. Gukuna reveal how much he spent during the national election. He claimed that he only used $13,000, which is considerably a smaller considering the following things; the money he spent on fuel to use M.V. Renbel during election day, and how much of the M.V. Renbel money he used during that election. It is unrealistic for a candidate to run with such an amount of money.
Finally, I want our MP and the same goes to our provincial politicians, to be accountable for their own mess, but that doesn't mean that Hon. Gukuna is not honest in the way he handled the Renbel funds. Honestly, I don't know anything about how he handles these funds, but I hope he represents the people of Renbel honestly. I also hope that he seriously considering this legal suit against Mama Teho as this will clarify a lot of confusions and allegations. This will settle everyone's doubt about how he represents Rennell and Bellona in Parliament.
