US improvement in Rugby 7s shouldn't be taken lightly
US Eagles defeating South Africa (The Glasgow 7s Champions) during the London 7s.
The US Rugby 7s has improved greatly with its recent stunning victories over two of the IRB 7s series champions, Fiji during the Glasgow 7s and against South Africa over the weekend in London. The US is the underdog in the IRB World Series but some successes in the third and forth slots over the past years. But these two wins shows the US 7s has a huge potential and a side to watch in the next decade.
In US, most young talented men prefer either Basketball, American Football, Baseball, or Soccer, but recently a few notable AF players crossed over to play Rugby 7s putting the sport of Rugby on the spotlight here in US. It will be a matter of time before the American market picks up Rugby and once that becomes reality, young men will take the world by storm.
Today, US Rugby is held together by a few imports and mostly Americans of Polynesian heritage.
