attack on marathon runners - Boston, MA |
After eight years of leading America, Bush exited the White House touting his success in defending American homeland - a president whom terrorists feared so much. After Bush toppled the Taliban and rolled into Iraq and disarmed Saddam Hussein, the Libyan leader - Muammer Qaddafi - who was watching, quickly announced his government was abandoning its nuclear program and cooperated with US and its allies in targeting Al Qeada's cells in Northern Africa. Evidence also surfaced that Iran halted its nuclear program for fear of being invaded by the allies. This fear is not felt today - US is seen as a weak, retreating powerless superpower. It is not a myth - terrorists activity in US spiked after Obama won the election of 2008. Not only did the axis-of-evil resumed nuclear testings, terrorists began hitting US again. The way this administration approaches terrorism is far weaker than any administration in US history, fortunately, these terrorists failed to achieve their goal. Not because their plans were foiled by the FBI or CIA, but they failed to achieve their goals owed only to their amateurism and inadequacies. They had themselves to blame for not successfully attacking targets in America.
For instance, the Nigerian man who almost blew a jetliner over Chicago with an underwear embedded bomb, was reported to the US authority by his own father who feared his son was radicalized and may seek to harm US targets, and though his name was on the "no-fly list", he was somehow on the plan to the US. The bomb failed to ignite and he was muscled to the floor by passengers, including a foreigner. Like wise, a Pakistan man packed a SUV with explosives and parked it somewhere in Town Square area but failed to detonate as planned because of error in the making of the explosive, else it would have destroyed the American icon - the Time Square. The man, as was known later, had some extensive training in Pakistan, and may have linked to Al Qeada cells. And though travelers to that part of the world are often monitored, this man somehow sneaked through the cracks and carefully orchestrated a bombing that could have caused considerable damage to a city already scarred by decades of internal and external attacks.
The incompetence of the intelligence community under this president can be attributed to the political tug-of-war between the right and the left over whether the US government can monitor certain groups and restricted profiling of wanted terrorists, and the new Democrat approach to terrorism. All attempts to follow terrorists have been thwarted by the left for the sake of "civilian rights to privacy" a right they even extended terrorists. Even leftwing civil rights organizations offered shelter and legal representations to GITMO detainees for believing that these people are somehow innocent and were wrongly accused by the US government. In every turn, the left doesn't want America to be as strong as it is known in history, nor as vigilant as it as it should. This new approach is based on one major ideology - a flawed one - which built on a myth that if America stops attacking its enemies, its enemies would somehow lay their weapons down and embrace peace. It is this notion that the Obama administration built its foreign policy and we know how dumb it is because we already saw the results: a US ambassador was murdered along with four officers of the CIA and the US embassy and many other instances, and more terrorists sought to attack US in the past years.
Two Chechen brothers who attacked Marathon runners at Boston, MA |
The Muslim Fort Hood shooter. |
The saddest thing, however, is that no matter how much evidence pointing to the radicalization of these two brothers by Islamic radical clerics, the Democrat party and their leftwing accomplices would remain vigilant in their refusal to call any attack on America a "Terrorist Attack" by an "Islamic Extremists". To them, the branding and the sounding of words are more important that the truth. The Democrats and Liberal civil right organizations are now gearing up to prevent these two men from being tried in a military tribunal. They would want to see these men tried in civilian courts and accorded the same rights as Americans have though these men attacked the country that welcomed them as political asylums - which is amount to treason and betrayal. This is the administration that killed an American cleric who inspired so many attacks on America, yet refused to charge those who directly harmed America with either guns or explosives. This is the administration with supporters who didn't have any problem leveling peaceful Teapartiers terrorists and extremists and rendered them extremely dangerous to America, but refused to call those attacking America in the name of Allah, Islamic Terrorists.
Sad indeed!
